Brief Yobe State HMB History
The Hospitals Management Board (HMB) is one of the agencies of the Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services. It was established under Edict No. 2 of 1999, Yobe State Gazette No. 23, of 10th June 1999. It was later amended in July 2012. This was further amended in August 2016 to have the executive secretary as the Chief Executive Officer of the Board. The mandates of the board, on the other hand, are to ensure the implementation of government policies and programs, which include the provision of services, research and training.
The current CEO of the board is Dr. Abubakar Yerima, MBBS, FWACP (Rheumatologist), appointed by His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, on the 17th November 2023.
