New Projects at Yobe State Specialist Hospital Geidam

Today Thursday 24th/Feb/2022, the Hon Commissioner of Health and human services Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana accompanied by ES HMB Dr Musa Baba and other directors of the ministry commissioned several projects executed by YSSH Geidam.

The facility executed many projects which includes:

1. Accidents and Emergency unit

2. CCTV camera to enhance monitoring

3. Electronic medical records

4. General outpatients consulting rooms

5. Surgical consulting rooms

6. Medical consulting rooms

7. CSSD unit

8. Expansion of labour ward

9. Upgrade of the theatre

10. Upgrading the hospital pharmacy department

11. Hospital canteen

12. etc

All these projects were executed using their local resources.

The Chairman of Friends of the hospital applauded the efforts of the managers of the facility that even at the peak of the insurgency they were present to provide service. He said this is an example of the level of their commitment.

Moreso, the ES HMB Dr Musa Baba commended the efforts of the management and staff of the hospital in making the facility one of the best performing hospitals in the state despite the challenges of insecurity. He enjoin them to sustain the team spirit, determination and focus on uplifting the standard of the hospital. The ES further reassured the staff, of the board’s continued support to the hospital to provide quality health care services in the hospital. He also thanked the HCH for the continued and unflinching support to the board and the hospitals.

In his remark, the honourable commissioner for health was impressed with the level of Infrastructural development in the hospital. He added that the government of His Excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni is determined to make the health system of the state stronger in every aspect of health care delivery. He further emphasised that the administration of governor Mai Mala Buni has transformed the health sector in the area of Infrastructural development, human resources for health and provision of state of the art equipment to provide the standard, effective and efficient service delivery in the state.

He further states that the establishment of the Yobe State contributory health care management agency and Yobe State drugs and medical consumables agency were aimed at reducing out of pocket expenditure by both the formal and the informal sectors as well as to provide potent, effective and efficient drugs and medical consumables to improve the quality of care in the hospitals.

He also urged them to make proper utilisation of these gestures of his excellency to provide the standard, effective and efficient health care service delivery.

Finally, the MD of the hospital Dr Salisu Sanda in his response thanked his excellency the Executive governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni for transforming the health sector in the state. He also appreciated the efforts of the HCH and the ES-HMB for the support they have been giving to the hospital. The MD assured the HCH that they will continue to work as a team to provide the needed services.
