Yobe State Specialist Hospital, Gashua formerly called General Hospital Gashu’a was officially commissioned on the 9^th August 1977 by the by the then Military Administrator of former Borno State, Group Captain Mustapha Amin (Rtd). The hospital has 170 beds capacity. From the bed capacity, the hospital could be seen as a very busy one  which caters for all the health needs of the whole Bade Emirate. It also serves as a referral center for hospitals in this zone which comprise Karasuwa, Yusufari, Yunusari, Jakcusco, Tarmua, Geidam local government areas of Yobe state and Gololo in Bauchi state. The hospital was given a new nomenclature and status in August, 2021.
