Update: ISS
Earlier today Wednesday 6th September 2023, the Director of Medical Laboratory Services of the Hospitals Management Board Mal.Sarki Muhammed Yusuf paid a supportive supervisory visit to Women & Children Hospital’s Laboratory department, Damaturu.
On his arrival, he witnessed a huge turn up of patients waiting to have their investigations done as requested by the clinicians.
Moreover, the laboratory department offers the following services: grouping and crossmatching, PCV, MP, FBC EUCr, etc.
Furthermore, The DMLS inspected the registers, and he is pleased that the documentation is done according to the standards.
However, the following observations were made and actions taken:
1. Need to update the duty roaster at the department.
2. All the Industrial Training students must be trained according to standards.
3. The staff should make the maintenance of the laboratory and the equipment a top-notch priority. All Malfunction equipment must be fixed immediately.
4. The DMLS commends and encourages the staff to always wear lab coats while on duty.
Finally, the DMLS advised the staff to always adhere to the SOPs and ensure quality results are produced in the laboratory. The DMLS also advised the staff to always adhere to the infection prevention protocol when performing their duties.
